Pool Tournament Dr. Cue Pueblo Colorado

pool tournament, classic cue, pueblo colorado, dr. cue, tom rossman

Mid pool tournament report. Check out the action in the middle of Pueblo Colorado's largest annual billiard tournament with Dr. Cue (Tom Rossman).

I’m sitting in the “Classic Q” pool hall in Pueblo Colorado in between matches in this tough action pool tournament. It’s almost 4 PM and I have been here since 10:00 AM this morning.

I was lucky and drew a bye in the first round and then won my first match 5 to 1 a few minutes ago.

There is definitely some tough action in this tourney. We have several players from Colorado Springs and Denver and then of course there is Dr. Cue (Tom Rossman) from out of state.

This is the 13th annual Dr. Cue Pool Tournament. By far the biggest tournament in Pueblo and one of the bigger billiards tournaments in Colorado. I think there are 85 players this year which is one player more than last year.

The format is 8 ball BCA rules. It’s a race to 5 on the winner side of the bracket and a race to 4 on the one loss side. We flip a coin to determine the break on the first game and then it is alternating breaks after that.

With a $40 entry fee, only the toughest shooters around get in. When you get an open shot, you better get out (run the rack), because a second shot probably won’t happen. I always say, You miss, You lose.

The pool tables all have new cloth and the one I played on was extremely fast. I missed a table run on the 3rd game because the cue ball rolled to far on the ball before the 8 leaving me hooked behind the 8. I hooked myself so good on that one that there was not even a good bank angle to make a hit.

I gave up ball in hand on that one but luckily my opponent had a couple of clusters and was not able to break them out and clear the rack.

I won the flip when the match started and began the match with a break and run. My opponent had the next break and he answered with a break and run. This was a surprise because his cue ball rolled behind one of my balls and he could not see the 8 ball. He made a table length Masse shot on the 8 ball to answer my run.

This is definitely a fun pool tournament and I will be keeping you posted on the out come.

Pool Table Review

Read this pool table review and get some in sight on choosing your billiards table.

This pool table review is to help you when choosing a new table. I have written many articles about billiards tables. You can check them all out from the links in my blog.

I have owned several pool tables in the 25 plus years that I have been playing the game. The first table that I played on was a 4پŒ x 8پŒ table and it was given to my dad by someone that he worked with. I was about 10 years old at the time.

When I reached the age of 15, I would sneak off to the tavern down the road and play on their bar box.  This was one of those old style bar tables with the big cue ball. (I still do not like playing with the big cue ball very much)

I moved out of my parents house at age 18 and my cousin and I purchased a 4پŒ x 8پŒ Brunswick table for the house that we moved in to. This table was played heavily and we went through a couple of rounds of new felt in a short period of time.

The felt or cloth is actually one of the most important things about a table because it will be a major factor as to if the table plays fast or slow. (I do not recommend a cloth with a backing. It slows the ball down big time) My favorite billiards cloth is Simonis 860.

When I turned 21 A friend an I set up a little pool hall in a building that my family owned. We purchased two 4 and 1/2پŒ by 9پŒ tables. One was a Circle G Gandy and the other was a Murray. Both tables played good and the Murray played extremely fast off the rails. We also purchased four 3 and 1/2پŒ by 7پŒ Valley bar tables.

I currently have one of the 7 foot Valley tables in my house now. I chose to keep that one because most league play and at that time the BCA National Tournament in Las Vegas were all played on a 7پچ Valley pool table.

The BCA and APA have now switched to the Diamond Smart Tables. These play nice and the tavern that sponsors my team has 6 of them. (Diamond Jimپfs) These are the only Diamond tables in Pueblo Colorado at the time of this writing. The Diamond Table is definitely one of my favorite to play on and I am keeping my eyes peeled for my house.

I would have to say that out of all the tables that I have played in the past, my favorite would be a 9پŒ Brunswick Gold Crown with tight pockets and Simonis 860 cloth. You have to be in stroke pretty good to run a rack on one of these tables.

There are several pool table articles on my pool-billiards-game dot com website. There is even a page which shows what size of a room is necessary for comfortable play on various sized billiard tables. I hope this article gives you some things to consider when choosing your table.

To Your Run Out Success,

My Collection Of Sports Cards

I have never been too keen on collecting things. I am sort of a simple guy at heart, so I love having only what I need. I have one running collection, however, that only seems to get bigger as the years go on. Sports cards. I really love gathering, trading and owning sports cards.

My love for sports cards began as a young child. My dad would reward me with sports cards when I did well at my chores or when I studied well for school. It was one of the only rewards he offered.

My love for sports cards began as a young child. My dad would reward me with sports cards when I did well at my chores or when I studied well for school. It was one of the only rewards he offered, and it quickly became the only reward that I was interested in. I remember the joy of buying my first binder to hold my sports cards in. I had saved my allowance for a couple of months and could finally buy the special sports cards holder that I had been looking at in the sports cards store.

As I got older, I phased in and out of looking for new sports cards, but I continually cherished my sports cards collections and I spent many hours of free time looking at them and memorizing everything I could about them. Some of my brothers and my friends made fun of me for loving my collection of sports cards so much, but I didn't care. I collected cards from baseball and basketball players mostly, but I've got small collections of cards from a variety of players.

When I had my own children, I could hardly wait to begin sharing my love for sports cards with my sons. I bought them sports cards within a week of their births and I continued to start small collections of cards with them. As they have gotten older, they have truly started to love sports cards like I do. Some of our best times together and our best conversations are surrounding our collections. No one else seems to understand their value quite like we do.

Once a year I take my three sons to a huge exhibition that is focused solely on sports cards. We bring our big binders and we make purchases and trades all weekend long. It is our favorite weekend of the year. We have a great time together and I love that I have something in common with my sons. They love asking my advice about particular trades and purchases, and I love giving my advice to them about sports cards.

It is never too late to start a collection of sports cards. It is a fun hobby that will keep you entertained for years to come.

There are some must-know terms entrants should be familiar with when entering online sweepstakes. Important terms relating to entries are: 1/H which means one entry per household and 1/H/D is one entry per household per day, 1/H/W means one entry per household per week, 1/H/M means one entry per month and 1/H/Q means one entry per quarter or every three months. 1/P is short for one entry per person. And, as explained above, /D, /W, /M and /Q can be added as time constraints. Another time related sweepstakes term is bi-weekly, which means entrants can enter once every two weeks.

Addy or addie refers to the entrant’s address. Four common used terms are NAZ, NAZDT, NAZH and NAZT. N means the entrant’s name and surname, A means the entrant’s address and Z stands for the entrant’s zip code. The additional DT is short for day telephone, H means home telephone and T means telephone number.

With regards to the contest or online sweepstakes itself, the following terms might be helpful. SD means start date, the official start date of the sweepstakes of contest. Online entry means the method of entering using the internet. WL stands for the winners list and DD for the drawing date, which is the last date of acceptance of entries for online sweepstakes. E/F/A means employees, families and agencies, referring to the eligibility of entrants.

Other commonly used terms in online sweepstakes are WSL and DOB. WSL means while stocks last and DOB is short for date of birth. Another popular term is J/A which stands for judging agency. Most big competitions use judging agencies to regulate their sweepstakes. P/C means prices must be claimed by the given date. If winners do not claim their prizes in a certain period of time, they forfeit their prizes.

When entering online sweepstakes regularly, entrants will soon become familiar with all the terminology regarding sweepstakes. There are many glossaries and websites available where prospective entrants can read more about online sweepstakes and the related terms. It is always a good idea for entrants to ensure they are familiar with the rules and regulations, the terminology and all the other details of contests or online sweepstakes before they enter.

When entrants are familiar with the online sweepstakes terminology, they can enter as many sweepstakes as they can – and of course stand a big chance to win great prizes!

Among the many sports that man has ever played, perhaps, bowling is the most popular among all. With over 50 million players in the United States alone, bowling is definitely one sport that is a cut above the rest.

Among the many reasons this particular sport has remained at top of is the fact that it is a highly flexible sport. It promotes easy adjustment methods that are why many children and adults alike can take part in this remarkable game.

About 95% of bowlers consider bowling as a sport that can be exploited as a recreation, a form of relaxation, a societal factor, and a competitive nature as far as sportsmanship is concerned.

The simplicity of the game contributes to its adaptability. Because its rules are easier to understand, more and more people are engaging in this sport, not because of competition but basically because they want to enjoy the time with their friends or family.

With all these advantages, many people are still not aware of the health benefits that bowling can provide. They just thought that the activity could promote physical vigor and it stopped there. What they do not know is that the health benefits of bowling is more than just building stamina and releasing energy.

So for those who are not yet aware of these benefits, here is a list that you should know:

1. Promotes good muscle exercises

Merely walking along the lane, while attempting to make a strike or a spare, is enough to exercise the muscles in your legs. It resembles that of the "walking exercise" that most health buffs do; the only difference is that there is more weight involved. This is because in bowling, your hands are holding the bowling ball.

Consequently, as you swing around to hit the pins, the flexing and stretching provides adequate exercise for your tendons, joints, ligaments, and muscles in the arms.

2. Fat burning

As your muscles flex, turn, and twist in every swinging motion that you make while playing bowling, these moves can actually promote the burning of some accumulated body fat.

3. Builds friendships

One of the health benefits that can be derived in bowling is based on the kind of relationship that is being built with your friends or family. As some psychologists contend, building social relationships can actually promote better performance of the heart muscles. Emotional stress can shorten the lifespan of an average person.

Indeed, there can be no better or enjoyable way to live a healthy life than bowling can.
